Dehalobacter
TSI-TCA®
Dehalobacter culture for anaerobic treatment of 1,1,1- and 1,1,2-trichloroethane.
TSI-TCA® is an enriched natural bacteria culture containing more than 1×10¹¹ Dehalobacter cells per liter, added to groundwater where native Dehalobacter is absent or under-represented. It biodegrades 1,1,1-trichloroethane and 1,1,2-trichloroethane to 1,1-dichloroethene, 1,1-dichloroethane and chloroethane.
Dehalobacter is estimated to be absent at 10 to 40 percent of chlorinated-solvent sites. Like TSI-DC®, the culture works with any commonly used electron donor, is not genetically modified, and ships overnight in sealed stainless-steel containers.
