In situ chemical oxidation (ISCO)

Chemical Oxidation Solutions

Persulfate and its activator for oxidative destruction of hydrocarbons, fuel oxygenates, chlorinated solvents and 1,4-dioxane in high-concentration source areas.

Terra Systems' chemical oxidation solutions are designed to rapidly destroy contaminants and accelerate site cleanup. Sodium persulfate generates oxidative sulfate and hydroxyl radicals in groundwater; TSI-FSA™, a ferrous sulfide activator, triggers that reaction while improving crew safety and reducing damage to injection tooling compared to traditional activation methods.

Persulfate-based ISCO is effective across petroleum hydrocarbons (BTEX, TPH, PAHs), fuel oxygenates (MTBE, TBA), chlorinated ethenes (PCE, TCE, DCE, vinyl chloride), chlorinated ethanes and methanes, 1,4-dioxane, and pesticides. It is frequently used in a treatment-train approach alongside the SRS® substrate line.

At a glance

  • Rapid source-area treatment

Oxidative radicals destroy a broad range of organic contaminants quickly, suited to hot spots.

  • Safer activation

TSI-FSA™ ferrous sulfide activation runs at a lower pH than traditional activators, improving field-crew safety.
