Targeted microbes for complete degradation
TSI® Bioaugmentation Cultures
High-density Dehalococcoides, Dehalobacter and Rhodococcus ruber cultures that restart a stalled dechlorination pathway where native microorganisms are absent or under-represented.
TSI® bioaugmentation cultures introduce specialized microorganisms to support the breakdown of contaminants where native populations are limited or inactive. Dehalococcoides and Dehalobacter are estimated to be absent in 10 to 40 percent of chlorinated-solvent sites; without them, reductive dechlorination can stall at cis-1,2-DCE rather than reaching ethene.
Each culture is shipped overnight in sealed stainless-steel containers, is not genetically modified, and is certified free of known human pathogens. TSI-DC/TSI-TCA and TSI-RR aside, the cultures work with any commonly used electron donor, including Terra Systems' own SRS® and QRS™ substrates.
At a glance
Complete dechlorination
TSI-DC® carries Dehalococcoides mccartyi to push PCE/TCE dechlorination past the cis-1,2-DCE stall to ethene.
Ethane-specific pathway
TSI-TCA® carries Dehalobacter for 1,1,1- and 1,1,2-trichloroethane, and TSI-MDB1® for carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and methylene chloride.
Aerobic option
TSI-RR® carries Rhodococcus ruber for cometabolic aerobic degradation of 1,4-dioxane.
