Dehalococcoides mccartyi
TSI-DC®
High-density Dehalococcoides mccartyi culture for complete reductive dechlorination to ethene.
TSI-DC® is an enriched natural bacteria culture containing more than 1×10¹¹ Dehalococcoides mccartyi cells per liter, added to groundwater at sites where native Dehalococcoides is absent, under-represented, or missing the functional genes needed for complete TCE and vinyl chloride reduction. Dehalococcoides is estimated to be absent at 10 to 40 percent of chlorinated-solvent sites.
Without it, reductive dechlorination commonly stalls at cis-1,2-DCE. TSI-DC® carries the dechlorination pathway for PCE and TCE through to the non-toxic end product ethene, and also biodegrades 1,1,1-trichloroethane to 1,1-dichloroethene, 1,1-dichloroethane and chloroethane, and carbon tetrachloride and chloroform to methylene chloride.
The culture works with any commonly used electron donor, is not genetically modified, and is certified free of known human pathogens. It ships overnight in sealed stainless-steel containers to prevent air exposure.
Benefits
- Carries PCE/TCE dechlorination past the common cis-1,2-DCE stall point to ethene

- Also biodegrades 1,1,1-TCA, carbon tetrachloride and chloroform
- Works with any commonly used electron donor, including SRS® and QRS™
- Ships overnight in sealed stainless-steel containers
