Practical Solutions for Real-world Conditions

Core Competencies

Terra Systems combines deep technical expertise, in-house manufacturing, and hands-on customer support to help solve complex remediation challenges. From product development and treatability testing to production and field support, our capabilities are built to deliver practical solutions for real-world site conditions.

What We Deliver

Research & Product Development
Terra Systems scientists have been advancing in-situ bioremediation technologies since the 1980s, building on a foundation established in the 1970s when Richard Raymond, Sr. received the first patent for in-situ bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbons.

Today, under the leadership of President Richard Raymond, Jr., Terra Systems continues to develop proven anaerobic and aerobic remediation technologies. Our research and development program focuses on solving real site challenges faced by environmental consultants and project managers.

Dedicated Production Team
Our Claymont facility is supported by a full-time production staff responsible for meeting demanding client timelines while maintaining strict quality standards.

Having an in-house manufacturing team gives Terra Systems the flexibility to respond quickly to project needs and maintain consistent product performance across every batch.

Quality Control Lab
Quality control is integrated directly into our production process. Terra Systems operates a dedicated quality control laboratory on the manufacturing floor at our Claymont facility.

This close integration between production and testing allows our team to monitor product consistency in real time and maintain the high standards our clients depend on.

Pre & Post Sales Support
Terra Systems works with clients from early project planning through field implementation, helping determine the right carbon substrate and loading for each site.

The process begins with a complimentary site evaluation led by Dr. Mike Lee, a patent holder for emulsified vegetable oil substrates. Using the ESTCP Substrate Estimating Tool and site-specific data, we calculate the appropriate carbon loading using our patented SRS® emulsified vegetable oil substrates or our sodium and potassium lactate products.

U.S. & Japan Manufacturing
Terra Systems owns and operates a manufacturing facility in Claymont, Delaware, strategically located near the I-95 and I-76 corridors. We also manufacture products for the Japanese market in Nagoya, Japan.

This global manufacturing presence allows us to support regional demand while maintaining tight control over product quality, production schedules, and delivery timelines.

Custom EVO Solutions
Many Terra Systems innovations begin with client challenges in the field. Our research and treatability lab sits adjacent to manufacturing, allowing us to quickly move from formulation concept to production-scale testing.

When traditional carbon substrates struggle due to low pH, high groundwater flow, competing electron acceptors, or other conditions, we work with clients to develop tailored emulsified vegetable oil (EVO) formulations designed for those environments.

Treatability Study Laboratory
Terra Systems has conducted more than 250 treatability studies, making our laboratory one of the most experienced in the industry. Our lab helps clients evaluate remedial strategies, compare amendments, and identify the most effective treatment approach before field implementation.

Typical studies include:
+ In-situ anaerobic bioremediation for chlorinated solvents
+ In-situ chemical oxidation
+ Column studies for bioremediation performance
+ In-situ aerobic bioremediation for petroleum hydrocarbons
+ Monitored natural attenuation studies
+ Nutrient, oxygen source, and pH control evaluations

These studies help reduce uncertainty and improve project outcomes.

Sustainability

Terra Systems has long been a leader in sustainable remediation and was one of the founding members of the Sustainable Remediation Forum (SURF).

Our patented SRS® family of emulsified vegetable oil substrates is certified under the USDA BioPreferred Program as a 98% biobased product. We have also calculated and independently audited the carbon footprint of these products and purchase carbon offsets so they arrive on site with a net-zero carbon footprint.

Whenever possible, we also source raw materials locally to further reduce environmental impact.
